The Eva Demaya Centre aims for better healthcare for the local communities in Northern Malawi. The Centre adopted a project-based approach. This has led to the development of local initiatives, as for example in the carpentry section of the Centre now being able to offer the furniture it makes for sale. In addition, the Centre finances vocational training in areas such as carpentry, bycicle-repairer and tailoring so that participants can afterwards set up for themselves in business. These initiatives create and stimulate a local economy, so that our support leads to something genuinely sustainable instead of disappearing down a bottomless pit.
